Color

Thought that I'd share a treasury I made a while ago. It was so much fun picking colorful items and I adore these shops and shop keepers on Etsy.  Wishing us all a Happy New Year!

Baby Doll on Christmas Morning

Ruthie Grace loved her doll and she took her for a drive!
Christmas morning 2011
Riding in the new tractor!
I love that Ruthie has her baby doll, and a sippy cup,  her new tractor and a donut~~  This girl is going places!!

Christmas Day 2011

This has been the year of 'big'. Big prayers, big blessings, grand babies growing bigger, and a big big miracle.
Christmas is a day of Miracles.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe, wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will to men.

Peace be upon you...
Today my family all my children, all my grand children celebrated together and gave thanks for the blessings of Christ.

Baby Doll Part III The End

Baby doll was finished in the wee hours of the morning.  Her pink and green dress was left for the frog pond.
Pink satin bow on her ruffle butt!
1:00 am exhausted and ready to nap on the lap top. New garnet dress curling up on the hem, but just too tired to give a mind to it.
Helping Papa drive Gramma to work.
Just to tired to drive any longer. Napping on the dash board.  What seat belts?
Posing under the Christmas tree at work. Showing off my green Minne Mouse necklace.
Happy in the tree. The pine bows are just right to nestle in and wait for Christmas morning.
My new name is Ellie.  Ellie is the name of a very naughty Cocker Spaniel that Gramma knows.  I think it's cute  though and I love dogs...even the naughty ones ... so I am happy to have the name
Ellie.
Don't you think I could be a Rockette at  Radio City?  Look at my high kick.     Merry Christmas!

Baby Doll Part II

A Very Bad Dress Day and a Temper Tantrum !!
Time Out for misbehavior!
The dress has been a nightmare. I used Spa by Naturally Caron and it is just to splitty.  It is soft and has lovely colors so I really gave it my best effort. Five hours later I put baby and dress into TIMEOUT!

She pouted. Then she threw her miserable dress on the floor, rolled over and sticking her cute ruffle butt in the air fell asleep on the big bag of polyester filling.
Starting over with Caron Simply Soft in a deep garnet color.  Will be a nice color for a Christmas Dress.
'She' needs a name.

Miracle

I had a miracle in my life today. Answered prayer. I bought this in celebration and hope it brings a blessing to who ever wears it...

http://www.etsy.com/transaction/67014767?utm_source=transaction&utm_medium=trans_email&utm_campaign=purchase_buyer
I may just wear it myself close to my own heart.
May blessings also flow to this handsome young man who made it.

I will pray for him as I have prayed for my son.
This is his story as told by his adoptive mother on the web site where she sells his art;
" John, at the age of 4, survived the Rwandan genocide with a bullet in his leg. He witnessed the massacre of his village and murder of his entire family. Now an adult living in Uganda, he attends a middle school to get the education so long denied him. The last photo is John where he lives in his pastor’s office in the church. We share a deep and abiding faith and love for the Lord and each other, as well as a talent for jewelry design.
I was so shocked to hold the jewelry John gave me and learn from him that he made the beads from paper and varnish. John uses paper, seed beads, seeds, shells, barrel beads, wood, and stretchy cord for his bracelets. Needless to say, I treasure the jewelry he gave me and I know you will feel the same way about your new piece."
Thank you Lord.  Thank you for this Grace for my family and friends who have prayed with me for the words you helped us write in our letters and pleas. Thank you Lord God for shining a light in the darkness.
Intercession prayer is Devine and Holy

Baby Doll

Making a baby doll

Get this book of toy designs if you haven't already. There is not one thing in here that I don't want to make.  All of her designs are magical and fun and clearly written so that even if you have never done a kitchener stitch you will be able to do it on the very first try. Imagine knitting thumbs and a nose and pearly little baby ears!

I stayed up way to late again to make little thumbs. They are just right for jamming in a little mouth.
like this one!
Little baby girl I love so much.  All snug in her Christmas pj's.

Wee Fingerless Mitts

Wee Sucky Thumb Mitts
the sweetest mitts
I never dreamed I'd be making and mailing wee little mitts to San Francisco....but I am!  If you love fingerless mitts or have wee ones to make gifts for these will fly off your needles... thanks to this wonderful pattern free on Ravelry
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sucky-thumb-mitts  by Marianne Cant
My favorite is the little sparkling red pair.  Really truly fast and simple to make. I use size 2 US DP needles for infant to 12 month size and size 3 US DP needles for 12-24 month size with worsted weight.
So fun and great stocking stuffers.

Christmas Tree

family traditions
Mama Biz, Lola and Leo are enjoying Leo's second Christmas.   Last year at this time he was a wee babe in swaddling blankets.  Now one short year later he is helping to put the ornaments on the family tree.
Mom and Dad are no doubt snuggled on the couch enjoying a glass of wine. The tree is magnificent. Leo is asleep in his crib and Lola asleep in her bed.
For Unto Us a Child is Born.
and we celebrate with lights, traditions,  family.

The Perfect Place to Knit

Today I found the perfect spot!!
I remember loving winter and I miss the pretty snow, skiing, ice skating, walks in the middle of the road late at night after a snow fall.  This weekend with Thanksgiving behind me and a week of getting used to having shingles I was happy to be here in Florida.  I live on the SW Gulf Coast.  It is a small town and really truly a beautiful area.  Not New England Cape Cod beautiful. Not Coast of Maine beautiful.  Not Green Mountain State Park, VT beautiful. Not Blue Ridge Mountains beautiful....all of them places I'd rather be...but it is peaceful and there is the Gulf and on a day like today in the 70's with a trade breeze I'll take it. Thanks to God for knowing where I need to live even when I differ.

Kid Mohair Mobius

I squeezed just enough time out of Thanksgiving to use my first mohair yarn!
modeled by daughter Amy
Had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Ate just enough and then had more.  I don't have to worry any more about the pumpkin bread that Amy baked because I polished it off in the middle of the night!
Amy and Micah and daughter Mya have announced that Mya is going to be a big sister in June!  Very exciting news for all of us.
and here follows a rap up report on baby Eden's birth.  Eden made her way into this world very quickly at home... while her parent's and big sister were trying to leave to go to the hospital.  You can  read their story here.

Giraffe Part 5 The Finishing of ....my friendly giraffe

Today Mr Giraffe awoke from his good sleep in the infirmary.  Last evening but a dim memory of  his harrowing plastic surgery.  He was thrilled to hop into the car and drive off to his new position at the cardiac center. His excitement was evident as he gazed with curiosity out the car windows.
At work he made friends with a lovely girl named Raggedy Ann and he listened carefully to heart beats with his shiny new stethoscope.
It was along day and Mr Giraffe was happy to be home in time to relax in the Florida sunshine in the back yard.  It was a good day to be a giraffe in Florida.
