Hypoallergenic Connection

When someone gives you a hand made gift there is a very special moment when your jaw just drops and time stops.
My moment arrived in the mail around the time of my birthday.  Beautiful garnet earrings.  The brass wire is gracefully wrapped into hoops and somehow sparkling garnets are attached.  I am in awe of them. They are hypoallergenic so I can actually wear them.  I have very picky ears.

I don't like my neck but I love my earrings
Look at all the detail
My friend Charlotte made them for me for my birthday .
This is her wearing a pair of my fingerless gloves with her babies her beautiful birds:
and here is a link to Charlottes wonderful store and all of her jewelry and stitch markers.
Thanks Bird Girl and I wish you all the best in your new store on Artfire......(pssst....artfire may even be a better site than Etsy...)

Wedding Hankie on it's way to a new bride.  I love wrapping for my Etsy shops.
Vintage Anacin Tin

I sold a vintage tin of Anacin to a person in Greece today.  It has been sitting in my medicine cabinet for years ( I love old stuff) and today it is wrapped in new clothes....

I had a boyfriend in Greece once maybe there is a connection, but he did NOT give me headaches!
1948 Vintage Silk Brocade Wiggle Dress
I wonder where this sexy Vintage wiggle dress will end up...
Today I made my 100th Etsy Weelambieknits sale.  I am so happy to have reached that milestone.  Meanwhile my vintage shop is selling too and it is taking tons of time to just list and promote, but I love it.

Messy

I have admitted just how messy I am.
the knitting needle drawer
I posted a picture of my really big mess on this blog:
http://pwaknits.blogspot.com/
I am either the messiest knitter or the only one foolish enough to brag about it.
I have tried to clean up by starting a vintage shop and cleaning out some of the stash.
Things like this are going to be sold.
vintage thread and buttons are so hard to part with
Then I went out this am and stopped at Joann's for just a little something and came home with this:
what was I thinking?
I have no place to put it.

In My Absence

In my absence apparently some one else has been talking to my dog Angie.
Phoebe whispers sweet nothings into Angie's ear.
I had a rather important birthday on the 6th.  The one where you have to renew your driver's license.  I failed the vision test.  To say "disheartened"  is to mild.  I was horrified.  I knew I had cataracts and I had already stopped driving at night.  My high hopes of waiting for Medicare to help pay for cataract surgery have been dashed to bits.
So I have been busy opening a second Etsy shop to earn money for copays and deductables.  I wanted to do this anyway.  I now have a vintage shop sitting smartly next to my knitting shop.
It is still very much a work in progress.  I haven't even found time to make the shop banner yet.
You can find me here getting set up, taking photos, dusting and generally searching high and low for things I know I'd like to have live any where but my house.  http://www.etsy.com/shop/WeeLambieVintage
Stop in and have a look around you never know what you might find in a vintage shop!

Family 2012

The last day of Christmas vacation...
we went to Myakka State Park Sarasota, FL

the bird walk over the grass and lake offered a safe place for toddlers to explore...

a place for a boy's curiosity to bloom...

a chance for Auntie to get one more armful of boy...

for cousins to climb...
a moment for proud gramma to share the stage of life with her son and grand children...
for Momma Biz to put her back into it and have her heart and hands filled with the loveliest of children...
The house is quiet now.  Decorations are stored away for another year.  Gramma and Papa have had a couple of days to get back into their routine.  The memories begin. Where did two and a half weeks go so quickly?  I am already planning for when... for when we get together again.
God thank you for the joys of family and the many blessings in my life.

Gifts

Gifts.  Sometimes I find it hard to receive a gift.  They can make me feel like the shy wall flower that suddenly has the spot light gleaming off her face and sweaty dress at the Jr. H.S. Friday night dance.
The other day in the mail I received a gift from a new friend. It was a delight.  I have made a lovely new friend through Etsy.com.
Hand made jewelry for sensitive ears
These beautiful hand hammered copper and blue crystal earrings and adorably sweet little blue vintage crystal stitch markers came in a very special little brown box.

With Love from Montana Stitch Markers
Charlotte  makes beautiful art!
I love blue and copper together.  These earrings are hypoallergenic and so light and comfortable.
It has been a  wonderful Christmas Season and New Year.
I find it is good to be able to receive well for that in itself is a gift.
Thanks bird girl for my presents!

First Lesson of 2012

I shell always love you

First lesson of 2012 do not use super glue if you're of advanced middle age without supervision!  Skip had to pry my fingers off the shells and then pry my fingers from each other!  He was not very amused.  I did stabilize the beautiful shell ornament my hand made gift from Biz and Leo.

I shell always love you...
