My Whole30 ~ Day 30

Day 30

When I embarked on my Whole30 I knew I could do it.  Now I am so glad that I did it.
I am going to continue and make it a Whole60.
I have lost 15 pounds and gained confidence, more mobility and the energy needed to take care of those two little munchkins on the weekends.  Family life changes from time to time and my precious little grands need a gramma that can keep up with them while Mama goes to work for them.  So thanks to Whole30 I have been physically and mentally able to take on this new challenge while still working as a nurse during the week.

Angie has been keeping up with them too.

We took a hike in the Florida woodlands today.
Sleeping Turtle Preserve.
We have had lots of rain and everything is lush.

The river is full.
The alligators are basking on logs.
Dogs are relaxing in the dappled sunlight.
Humans are carrying dog poop through the forest.
What have you been up to?

I Know That Face

I was out thrift shopping on Saturday and I ran across a face that I just couldn't resist.
Sad Hound Dog
I had seen that face before. In fact I see that face everyday.
My Sad Faced Angie
Always begging for a hand out.
One collectible figurine was not enough on Saturday. I also saw these cute little salt and Pepper shakers.
Roosters
The lady in the thrift shop wished she had seen the roosters first. She collects them.  She also told me they bring good luck. I had never heard that, but apparently it is a reason for the proliferation of rooster decor.  I just always thought they were cute.

Sorry can't put up a link for Angie girl. She is a keeper.

"Ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you. Which of these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind."

Elephants

Yesterday we went to a very special place in Sarasota.  The Big Cat Habitat they were having an annual fund raiser for their rescue of big cats, and many other animals that have found themselves in need of a permanent loving home.
I met this elephant there.  He is a very rare Asian cross tusked elephant that lives here in FL and was visiting for the fund raiser.
It is so important to protect these animals.  Don't buy exotic animals for pets.  What happens is they end up looking for new places to live and their situations can be horrible.  Here in Sarasota the Rosaire family at  The Big Cat Habitat is giving everything they have to provide sanctuary for life to these animals.  They are lovingly cared for.  You can read about it on their site in their words.
I just want to show you the animals we got to see.

The afternoon was a lot of fun.  It is great living in a circus community.
Today I finished the cocoon and cloche.

Car Knitting

Nothing to do?  Take up car knitting.  Makes the traffic less of a problem.  Just don't knit and drive.

Working on the Poodle Pink baby Cocoon

I bet you had snow to look at today.  We on the other hand.... here in Florida got to go to a great party at this beautiful backyard pool and hang out with the best Shepherd Mix pooch in Sarasota

Isn't that a nice pooch?

Wait I'm not done having fun yet.  First thing this morning we went to the most fabulous tag sale at a mobile home park here in Venice.   I shopped and Skip carried the boxes.  It was spectacular. I hated to leave.

Now that was a fun day.
I do miss snow.

Girls and Dolls

My little granddaughter visited this weekend and we played dolls.

We had so much fun today. I think the dolls did too.

I know Angie and Mya did.

Simple Knitting Day

All my gears ground to a halt yesterday and I had myself a wonderful knitting day. You know the kind. Picking up an UFO and happily greeting it like the long lost friend it is.  Coming to terms with it.  Picking up where you left off and making what had turned into an "I don't love you any more" relationship into an " I love you so so much" reality.
I finished my second pink Camo cap for girls.
